1. Who we are
GCT Expert ("we", "us", "our") is an independent service providing information, administrative verification and document review of roofing quotes, operated in Québec, Canada. We are not construction contractors, building inspectors or brokers, and we perform no roofing work. Our analyses are provided for informational purposes to help homeowners make an informed decision.
2. Personal-information officer
In accordance with the Act to modernize legislative provisions as regards the protection of personal information (Law 25, Québec) and the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA, Canada), a personal-information officer is designated. For any privacy question, access or rectification request, or complaint regarding personal information, you may reach them at: privacy@gctexpert.com.
3. Information we collect
We collect only what is necessary to provide the service:
- Identification information: first name, last name, email, phone number, postal code, city.
- Submitted documents: roofing quotes, estimates, contracts, photos, plans, contractor emails and any item you choose to upload.
- Project information: building type, roof type, urgency, request context.
- Technical information: IP address, browser type, pages visited, for security and aggregated statistics.
You are responsible for not uploading personal information of third parties without authorization. We do not solicit sensitive information (social insurance number, medical data, full banking data).
4. Purposes of use
Your information is used exclusively to:
- analyze the documents you send us and produce the report associated with the selected package;
- communicate with you about your file;
- recommend, where applicable, a package suited to your situation;
- meet our legal, accounting and tax obligations;
- improve the quality of our services (aggregated, anonymized statistics).
We do not sell, rent or exchange your personal information. We never transmit your documents to a contractor without your explicit written consent.
5. Consent
By submitting the free pre-check form or purchasing a package, you consent to the collection, use and retention of your information for the purposes described above. You may withdraw your consent at any time by writing to us, subject to ongoing legal and contractual obligations.
6. Disclosure to third parties
We may use service providers (cloud hosting, payment processing, transactional email, secure storage) which act only on our instructions and are bound by confidentiality commitments. Some of these providers may be located outside Québec or Canada; where applicable, we take reasonable measures to ensure an adequate level of protection. We may also disclose information if required by law (court order, request from a competent authority).
7. Retention and destruction
Documents and information related to an analysis file are kept for a maximum of twenty-four (24) months following report delivery, for reference, service-warranty and accounting-compliance purposes. After this period they are securely destroyed or anonymized. Non-converted pre-check leads are kept for a maximum of twelve (12) months.
8. Security
We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information: encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS), restricted access to authorized personnel, hosting on reputable infrastructure. No system being infallible, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Your rights
Under Law 25 and PIPEDA, you have the following rights: access to your information, rectification, withdrawal of consent, portability, de-indexing and cessation of dissemination where the law allows. To exercise a right, write to the personal-information officer at the address mentioned in section 2. We respond within a maximum of thirty (30) days.
10. Cookies
We use cookies strictly necessary for the site to function and, where applicable, anonymized audience-measurement cookies. You may configure your browser to refuse cookies; some features may be limited.
11. Privacy incident
In the event of a privacy incident presenting a risk of serious harm, we notify affected individuals and the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec, as required by law.
12. Modifications
We may modify this policy to reflect the evolution of our services or the legal framework. The update date above indicates the version in effect. Material changes will be communicated on this page.
